POSITION SUMMARY

The Research, Planning and Measurement Analyst plays an important role in helping United Way Winnipeg understand community needs, identify emerging issues, and make informed decisions that strengthen our impact. Through research, data analysis, evaluation, and community engagement, this role generates insights that help shape organizational priorities and support meaningful change across our community.

Working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners, you will explore social and economic trends, evaluate programs and initiatives, and bring community perspectives into research and planning processes. Your work will contribute to measuring progress toward United Way Winnipeg’s strategic priorities, identifying opportunities for improvement, and supporting a stronger understanding of the issues affecting our community.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Research & Community Insights

• Conduct research and monitor social, economic, demographic, and policy trends, identifying emerging issues and practices that may impact United Way Winnipeg, the community, and the nonprofit sector.
• Plan and carry out research projects related to local social issues, such as poverty, homelessness, and mental health, to inform organizational priorities and initiatives.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret data to identify trends and generate insights that support organizational planning and decision-making.
• Prepare and present research findings, reports, and information to a variety of audiences to support understanding and engagement.
• Maintain current statistics and research information used to inform United Way Winnipeg’s work.

Planning, Measurement & Evaluation

• Support the development and monitoring of measurement approaches and indicators to assess progress toward United Way Winnipeg’s Theory of Change and Strategic Plan.
• Contribute to community consultations and participatory engagement activities that gather perspectives and inform research, planning, and collective impact initiatives.
• Coordinate and conduct evaluations of programs and initiatives, assessing implementation, outcomes, and impact to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Apply appropriate research, evaluation, and data collection methods to support meaningful findings and organizational learning.
• Develop reports and communicate evaluation findings that support evidence-informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

Relationships, Partnerships & Committees

• Build and maintain relationships with research, evaluation, and data-focused organizations to support knowledge sharing and opportunities for collaboration.
• Work with academic institutions, nonprofit organizations, and government partners to strengthen connections and support collaborative initiatives.
• Represent United Way Winnipeg at relevant meetings, events, and committees, contributing to partnerships and shared learning.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE  

• Post-secondary education in social sciences, research, evaluation, or a related field.
• Experience conducting research, evaluation, or participatory planning, preferably within the nonprofit or community sector.
• Experience using data analysis software is an asset.
• Membership or affiliation with a professional research or evaluation organization is an asset.

• Develop creative concepts and visual solutions that bring communications, engagement, and organizational priorities to life.
• Design a variety of digital and print materials, including social media graphics, website assets, advertising, presentations, event materials, illustrations, infographics, merchandise, and other branded materials.

• Prepare design files for digital, print, and other production formats, ensuring technical specifications and quality standards are met.
• Support print production and pre-press processes, including coordinating materials produced internally and through external providers.
• Create physical mock-ups and prototypes and complete in-house finishing and production activities when needed.
• Organize and maintain design files, templates, photography, and other creative assets to support efficient access and collaboration.

• Work with printers, suppliers, vendors, consultants, and other creative partners to bring projects from concept to completion.
• Communicate creative specifications, timelines, and production requirements and monitor projects through delivery.
• Review final materials and production outputs for quality, accuracy, and brand consistency.

• Strong creative thinking and a thoughtful approach to design, with the ability to turn ideas and objectives into engaging visual solutions across different audiences and platforms.
• A strong understanding of design principles, visual storytelling, accessibility, and brand consistency.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing polished, accurate, high-quality work from concept through final production.

THE OPPORTUNITY OF THIS ROLE
The Community Insights Coordinator supports United Way Winnipeg’s Community Insights and Collaboration unit by helping collect, organize, and maintain information that strengthens our understanding of community needs, service trends, and opportunities for improvement.

A key focus of this role is maintaining the 211 Manitoba database, helping ensure that people across Manitoba can access accurate, current, and reliable information about community services and supports. Working closely with community organizations, service providers, government partners, and internal teams, the Coordinator verifies information, identifies gaps, and supports ongoing quality improvement.

The role also provides administrative and operational support to the Community Insights and Collaboration unit, including coordinating meetings and events, maintaining records and team resources, supporting reports and presentations, and tracking projects and follow-up activities. From time to time, the Coordinator will also support community outreach and awareness activities for 211 Manitoba.

This is an opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and curious about how community services connect to one another. You will play an important role in helping ensure that community resource information is accurate, accessible, and useful to the people and organizations who rely on it.

This position is part of the bargaining unit represented by Unifor Local 191 and is governed by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective agreement.

RESPONSIBILTIES

• Participate as a member of the bargaining unit, specifically Unifor and it's Local 191

211 Manitoba Information & Database Coordination

• Maintain, update, and verify information within the 211 Manitoba database to ensure community resource information is accurate, current, complete, and accessible.
• Connect with community organizations, government departments, and service providers to confirm program and service information, resolve discrepancies, and gather updates.
• Review database information to identify outdated, incomplete, duplicated, or missing information and coordinate appropriate updates.
• Monitor outstanding updates and follow up with community partners to support ongoing information quality.
• Support quality assurance activities and targeted reviews of information across different services, populations, geographic areas, and sectors.
• Compile database statistics, tracking information, and summaries to support reporting and team decision-making.

Community Insights & Collaboration

• Collect, organize, and maintain information from community, service, and organizational sources to support an understanding of community needs, service trends, emerging issues, and opportunities for improvement.
• Identify recurring patterns, gaps, and emerging needs through database information, community outreach, and relationships with service providers, and bring relevant observations forward to the team.
• Support community sector dialogue tables and other initiatives by preparing information, reports, presentations, briefing materials, and other resources.
• Assist with maintaining accurate community resource information during emergencies or periods of rapid service change.
• Support project coordination through activity tracking, follow-up, timelines, and other organizational needs.

Community Outreach & Resource Information

• Support outreach activities that raise awareness of 211 Manitoba and the community services and supports available to Manitobans.
• Coordinate logistics for meetings, presentations, outreach activities, and community events, including scheduling, materials, communications, and follow-up.
• Represent 211 Manitoba at community events and outreach activities, as required, and provide information about available services and supports.
• Build positive working relationships with community organizations, service providers, government partners, and other community stakeholders.

Team Coordination & Operational Support

• Coordinate meetings, appointments, calendars, and logistical arrangements for the Community Insights and Collaboration team.
• Prepare agendas, meeting materials, records, and action-item tracking to support effective team coordination and follow-through.
• Maintain organized team records, contact lists, templates, tracking tools, shared resources, and other operational documentation.
• Collaborate with team members to clarify information, address emerging issues, and contribute to continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

• 2–5 years of experience working in the not-for-profit, community service, health, social service, government, or related sector.
• Experience working with community resources, service information, data, databases, or community partners.
• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Humanities, Social Sciences, Information Management, or a related field.
• An equivalent combination of education and training with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience may be considered.
• Experience working with community organizations, service providers, or other system partners is an asset.
• Certified Community Resource Specialist (CRS) certification is considered an asset, or with a commitment to pursuing certification once eligible.
• Experience within the United Way movement as a campaign volunteer, Employee Campaign Chair, agency staff member or volunteer, or through other roles in the movement is considered an asset

THE OPPORTUNITY OF THIS ROLE
The Senior Advisor, Indigenous Collaboration works to deepen, guide, and steward United Way Winnipeg’s collaboration with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples and communities—supporting the organization, its volunteers, and its governance bodies to work in ways that are informed, relevant, respectful, and grounded in Indigenous ways of being, knowing, and doing.

Working in close partnership with the President & CEO, Strategic Leadership Team, and the Council for Indigenous Relations (CIR), the Senior Advisor is responsible for building organizational knowledge and capability, supporting leadership decision-making, and ensuring that United Way Winnipeg’s work is relevant, responsible, and meaningful to Indigenous peoples and communities.

RESPONSIBILTIES
Council for Indigenous Relations (CIR) Support

• Serve as the primary staff partner to the Council for Indigenous Relations, building trusted relationships with Council members and Co-Chairs
• Coordinate and support Council gatherings, including planning, communication, and follow-through
• Support the Council’s role in providing guidance, accountability, and learning to the organization
• Work with leadership to bring forward key strategies, policies, and initiatives for Council advice, and ensure guidance is communicated and integrated

Advisory Support to Leadership & Governance

• Provide senior advisory support to the President & CEO, Strategic Leadership Team, Board of Trustees, and volunteer leaders on Indigenous collaboration
• Offer insight and guidance to inform decision-making, strategy, and organizational practice
• Support leaders in navigating complex and sensitive issues with care, curiosity, and accountability
• Review and advise on major strategies, policies, and initiatives, contributing to leadership discussions
• Identify and escalate risks or misalignment related to Indigenous collaboration priorities

Knowledge & Capacity Building

• Work with leadership to develop and implement strategies that integrate an Indigenous collaboration lens across the organization
• Support Indigenous collaboration as an ongoing, evolving, whole-organization practice
• Build organizational understanding of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples through coaching, learning opportunities, and contextual teaching
• Support staff and volunteers to build confidence and competence in working respectfully with Indigenous communities
• Provide guidance on Indigenous approaches to philanthropy, generosity, and reciprocity
• Support the integration of Indigenous perspectives into United Way Winnipeg’s practices and partnerships

Relationship Development & External Collaboration

• Support strategies and initiatives that deepen relationships with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities, organizations, and leadership
• Guide the organization in building relationships grounded in trust, relevance, and mutual respect, including coordination of executive presence in community
• Ensure Indigenous community perspectives inform planning and decision-making
• Support the development of feedback and accountability approaches that reflect reciprocity and respect in relationships
• Provide guidance on responding to harm, missteps, or breaches of trust

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

• Demonstrated experience advising and supporting senior leaders, boards, elected officials, or volunteer governance bodies 
• Experience working with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities, with the ability to translate, partner, and bridge Indigenous knowledge within non-Indigenous organizational or institutional environments 
• Knowledge and expertise—developed through post-secondary education, professional practice, community leadership, lived experience, or sustained independent learning—in philanthropy, community engagement, public administration, non-profit work, or related fields is an asset 
• Experience within the United Way movement is an asset 

In addition, you bring:

• Strong judgment, discretion, and the ability to navigate complex, sensitive, and relationally dynamic environments 
• The ability to build trust, work across organizational and governance boundaries, and provide constructive guidance to leadership
